Tell them Tuesday

Take action! Teachers want to be in classroom with students, helping them learn and grow. Only the provincial government can fix the crisis in education they've created. Click the link to add your voice of support!

On May 9, 2024, the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation published in an email that:

We wanted to make sure you got the news right away.

Over the past two days, teachers overwhelmingly voted down the government's so-called final offer. Ninety percent of teachers opposed the offer, with 92.2 percent of members casting a vote over a two-day period.

You helped keep the pressure on government to get them back to the table by writing emails, making phone calls and showing your support in so many ways.

And there will be more work to do because this government keeps refusing to do what's right for kids and for teachers.

For right now, you can help by showing your support for Saskatchewan teachers on social media. "I Support STF" graphics for Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are available for download here.

Together, let’s keep demanding a better deal for schools. Because we won't give up on doing what’s right for our kids.

  • Today the provincial government needs to turn things around and listen to parents, teachers and families across the province.

Click here to to add your voice to over 33,000 emails sent to government MLAs yesterday calling on them to enter binding arbitration for class size and complexity and start fixing the education crisis.

Binding arbitration is a fair, objective, and neutral path to break the impasse the government has caused by refusing to listen to parents, teachers and families.

If the provincial government refuses to take this fair, objective, and neutral path out of the mess they've made by creating and ignoring the crisis in education, they will be forcing teachers into job action that will impact Hoopla, school trips, graduation planning, band festivals, and so many more activities that our kids love and look forward to.

It's not too late. Click here to tell the Premier and his Ministers there is still time to do the right thing, agree to binding arbitration for class size and complexity, and finally solve the education crisis.

  • Parents, students, teachers, and families all want the same thing: reliable, predictable and adequate funding for education, so that every kid gets the support they need to succeed.

But instead of sitting down to negotiate with teachers and find solutions, the provincial government keeps trying to distract from the issues.

Click here to tell government MLAs to stop spreading misinformation, and start fixing the crisis in education.

First the provincial government wasted taxpayer money attacking teachers with misleading billboards and radio ads. Then the Education Minister tried to blame teachers when he didn't bother showing up to the negotiating table.

Now government MLAs like Hugh Nerlien, Travis Keisig and Paul Merriman are spreading misinformation on social media, instead of holding their government accountable for the problems in our schools and the funding needed to fix them.

Will you take a minute to email these MLAs and tell them our kids deserve better than this?

  • People across the province all want the same thing – reliable, predictable and adequate funding to support students. But to get there, the government has to be held accountable for adequately funding public education.

That's why we are sending emails to elected school board chairs and the Saskatchewan School Boards Association executive, asking them to support teachers in the fight for our kids' schools.

Only a new deal that holds the government accountable for investing in schools will fix the public education crisis. Click here to remind these key decision-makers of that right now.

If you're a teacher, please ensure that you click the teacher option on the landing page, and not the option for other concerned citizens. This will ensure you're not sending an email to a school board where you might be employed.

And no matter whether you're a teacher, parent, student or family member, please feel free to customize your message and share your experience of what’s really going on in Saskatchewan’s schools.

Click here to tell key decision-makers it's time to help ensure the government returns to the table ready to invest in fixing the education crisis.

  • Yesterday, thousands of people across Saskatchewan sent over 5,000 emails to Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill, telling him to take the education crisis seriously. Here's what some of you shared:"I want to see a real commitment to a solid investment in my grandchildren’s future...""The first step in addressing the systemic issues in public education is showing up to discuss them openly and honestly...""The people of this province didn't fall off the turnip truck last night!"

Click here to join them and send your email to the Education Minister now.

Your messages help put pressure on the provincial government. Together we can make sure they negotiate a fair deal with teachers that:

Turns around years of cuts and invests in public education

Addresses ballooning class sizes, classroom complexity and safety

Ensures supports are there for every kid who needs them.Email the Education Minister now and tell him to do better.

  • We really need your help this week.

We agreed to two more days of negotiations and showed up ready to reach a deal that works for students and teachers, and makes our classrooms better.Yesterday [Feb 13, 2024], the government didn't even bother to show up.

So we need your help. Will you sign up now to make sure the Sask. Party government hears your concerns?

We need to send a clear message to the government that there's no excuse not to work with us.
